Hi ~ I’m Pamela and I am a new moderator on MSI.  My role as a territory manager, on the Food Service (FS) team, is to work with national and local FS accounts who offer the We Proudly Brew Starbucks program at various locations including corporate campuses, hotels, hospitals, resorts, etc.  Today, I’m excited to get to kick off our first coffee of the MSI Coffee Tasting Club - Organic Yukon Blend®.

The old tale of this blend is cool and started back in 1971.  Yukon Blend® was originally developed for a fishing captain, who needed a gutsy, robust blend of coffee to satisfy his crew while they were out on the Yukon River, by the Baltic Sea.  It stood the test of time and has been enhanced in recent years to be certified organic too.

On a cool and chilly day, I love the warm, roasty aroma.  I find Yukon Blend®  to have a nice forward flavor that finishes smooth, yet with a slight spicy undertone.  It goes well with a bowl of cinnamon and brown sugar sweetened oatmeal.  Another favorite pairing of mine is with chocolate. 

This coffee is a blend of Latin America and Asia/Pacific beans that result in a great, sensible style.  I think the synergy of both growing regions really make it a mildly intense, yet balanced, and enjoyable, coffee.  How did you like it?
